Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas (JASET), the leader in youth financial literacy, will reach its goal to increase its student body to 260,000 in the next few years. Decision Strategies Inc. (DSI) conducted strategic analysis for JASET to insure the goal will be met, despite, the economic recession which has affected the availability of volunteers and donations. DSI of Houston, Texas contributed over $500,000 worth of consulting services by assisting the JASET Board of Directors during this challenging period. After extensive research and interviews, several strategies were developed and evaluated based on JASET's objectives. Decision Strategies was able to quantify uncertainties and risk in the environment and JASET was able to make decisions on strategies based on the level of uncertainty. Further, JASET now has multiple courses of action within its strategy so it can adapt to possible changes in the economic environment. The new strategy calls for initiatives in scholarships, volunteers, education programs, Board of Directors composition, messaging and funding. By implementing the new strategy, Junior Achievement should meet its targeted goal of 260,000 students by 2013.
