Pat Leach, CEO

Pat is a recognized expert in risk management and decision-making in the face of uncertainty, and has published and presented numerous papers on these subjects.  He has extensive international experience in the development and implementation of creative strategic initiatives, probabilistic methodologies, and upstream energy projects.  An excellent communicator and teacher, he has added millions of dollars in value to clients' projects through employee training, process facilitation, VOI analysis, and stochastic modeling.  He is an excellent communicator and teacher, and has added millions of dollars in value to clients’ projects through employee training, process facilitation, VOI analysis, and stochastic modeling. He has worked for years with a broad variety of teams around the world to achieve business objectives.

Mr. Leach is also the author of “Why Can’t You Just Give Me the Number? - An executive’s guide to using probabilistic thinking to manage risk and make better decisions.”


Pat has earned an M.B.A. from the University of Houston, and a B.S. in Science in Geomechanics from the University of Rochester.


 

Steve Jacobs

Steve is recognized as one of the leading oilfield market consultants in the world. With over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, he began his career as a roughneck for Noble Drilling while in college. He is now sought by oil and oil service companies, as well as investors, to evaluate market opportunities for new and existing technologies and companies. In addition, clients around the industry seek his strategic marketing guidance to enhance the competitiveness of their organizations. He is quite knowledgeable on a range of products and services used in the upstream, midstream and downstream segments of the petroleum industry.

Steve holds a B.S. in Psychology from Oklahoma State University, a B.S. in Education from Oklahoma State University, and is a Energy Information Ambassador for the Society of Petroleum Engineers.  He moderates and lectures at numerous events around the world.

 

Bill Haskett


Bill Haskett is a Principal that brings nearly 30 years of mining, petroleum exploration and development, and LNG experience to Decision Strategies. As a recognized expert in upstream risk and uncertainty management, Bill is in demand as a speaker, instructor, and project enabler for clients around the world. His multi-faceted international experience and training in science, business, and organizational development allows him to create and facilitate the implementation of practical, real-world strategies and solutions for complex situations and problems.

Bill has trained and coached hundreds of global oil and gas professionals in decision-based risk and uncertainty management techniques, resulting in documented improvements in client company performance. He has developed a method for decision-based evaluation of unconventional resource opportunities (tight gas, gas shale, coal bed methane, etc.) that is quickly becoming the industry standard. Bill has more than 20 years of experience working with Unocal in a variety of positions including Assistant Chief Geologist and Senior Financial Advisor.

Bill earned an M.B.A. from the University of Calgary, and a B.Sc. in Geology, from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

 

 

O. J. Sanchez


O. J. Sanchez is a Principal for Decision Strategies with more than 40 years of Oil & Gas and Chemicals industry experience. O.J. routinely draws from his broad range of business, technical and strategic management experience to solve complex corporate problems. His strong leadership, combined with his comprehensive knowledge of the Oil & Gas Downstream and Chemical Industry, provides pragmatic, unbiased advice to business executives that enable them to meet their strategic objectives.

O.J. has over nine years of experience as a consultant in the downstream and chemicals area, where he helps clients clarify alternatives for major capital projects, develop business unit strategies, manage technology, and implement manufacturing excellence and cost reduction initiatives. He has more than 30 years of experience working with ExxonMobil Chemical in a variety of business management, technical, operations, and project management positions.


O.J. has an M.B.A from Louisiana State University and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from City University of NY.

 


Gary Bush

Gary Bush is an original founder and former CEO / Chairman of Decision Strategies, and currently serves on the Board of Directors. Gary’s corporate background before founding Decision Strategies includes 15 years as an executive in the life sciences industry, responsible for research and development, technology licensing, and new venture development in the biotechnology and innovative medical device arena. He has held roles in research and development management, product development, quality systems, business development, and strategic planning.

In addition to strategy consulting engagements, Gary serves on the Board of Advisors for the Georgia Tech School of Chemistry & Biochemistry, and is a principal in a novel energy technology venture. He is also a member of the Society of International Business Fellows, a leadership organization focused on the promotion of global business and trade.


Gary is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Ph.D. in biochemistry. He holds a B.A. from Hartwick College in New York. He is an invited speaker at the New York University Stern School of Business, an instructor at the Georgia Tech Innovation Center, and a contributing author for the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences and the Decision Analysis Affinity Group.
